Introduction to Hope International University and Its Ministry Programs


Mission.

Founded in 1928, Hope International University empowers students through Christian higher education to serve the Church and impact the world for Christ. Toward that end, the University specializes in fields offering significant potential for Christian impact on society, including ministry, education, business, health sciences, and social sciences. Hope stresses practical scholarship, servant leadership, and the priesthood of all believers. It encourages students to view their vocations as platforms for serving the Lord and the human community.

Location.

Hope’s main campus is located at 2500 E. Nutwood Avenue in Fullerton, California. The University also operates Education Centers in Corona and Orange in Southern California, as well as a Puget Sound Education Center in Everett, Washington. Additional sites are under development.

Hope’s Ministry Programs

Hope International University includes two primary Schools, each of which offers degree programs in Ministry accredited by both the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE):

  • Pacific Christian College (PCC), the University’s traditional, residential, undergraduate college, offers the 120-unit Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in Biblical Studies, Associate Ministry, Children and Family Ministry, Intercultural Studies, Preaching, and Youth and Family Ministry.
  • The School of Graduate and Professional Studies (SGPS) specializes in graduate degrees as well as non-traditional adult programs at the undergraduate level. The graduate degree is a 36-unit Master of Arts degree with Concentrations in Christian Leadership, Church Planting, Intercultural Studies, and Worship. The adult program is a 120-unit Bachelor of Science degree with majors in Christian Ministry and Intercultural Studies. Both programs are available 100% online.
Two additional University structures provide specialized services:
  • The School for Advanced Leadership Training (SALT) partners with churches to develop customized online training courses for emerging Christian leaders (www.hiu.edu/SALT).
  • The Institute for International Studies (IIS) provides training in American culture and English as a Second Language (ESL) for international students from around the world (www.hiu.edu/iis).
