Hope International University Training

Through a partnership with Hope International University (Fullerton, CA), Londen students gain access to additional learning opportunities:

  • 8-Day Extended Residencies, sponsored by Hope’s Graduate Ministry Department, add to a 3-day Regional Residency 5 additional days focusing on the student’s Biblical Development and Personal Development (spiritual formation and/or mental and emotional health). Campus Residencies are held in Southern California, usually in January. They include 60 hours of face-to-face interaction, supplemented with 10 weeks of online follow-up. For more information, see Next Residencies.

  • Online Courses – Londen students also gain access to the hundreds of online courses offered each year by Hope International University. For a list of available courses in Bible and Ministry areas, see Online Course Schedule.

How do online courses work? Hope International University enjoys superb online teaching capabilities through a partnership with eCollege, an online service provider based in Denver, Colorado. The eCollege system provides a separate website, or “eCompanion,” on which instructors post the syllabus, resources, assignments, and other materials for each course. Faculty and students also communicate with each other through this website. The system includes student and faculty training tutorials, as well as a HelpDesk providing 24/7 technical support.

Through the eCompanion, Hope instructors can do virtually anything they could do in a face-to-face classroom setting. Online courses typically include, for example, audio/visual lectures with PowerPoint, threaded discussions, assignments and projects, readings and resources, and/or links to library materials. Ministry courses typically last 5 - 7 weeks, with new units of the course opening each week. To test drive an online course, see the Hope website (www.hiu.edu).

Through the brief Residencies and/or online studies, adults may prepare for ministry without relocating or giving up their current employment.
